Felicity + Nathan: Married | Washington DC Wedding Photography

As we mentioned in our last post, May was a hopping wedding month for us. For wedding #2, we shot Felicity S‘s and Nathan G‘s celebration with Fredericksburg, VA-based wedding photographer Aaron Spicer.

Felicity and Nathan had a lovely ceremony at St. Patrick’s Church in Washington, DC. After the ceremony and taking portraits shots, we headed to Crystal City (Arlington, Virginia) for some “about town” photo fun. As we moved through town, bystanders wished the happy couple well. It’s always heartwarming when perfect strangers applaud, cheer and congratulate couples on their special day.

After our photo walkabout, the bridal party made their grand reception entrance at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport and partied “like it was 1999.”

If there was a word to sum up the day, it would be “fun.” It was fun working with Aaron and hanging with Felicity and Nathan on their special day. Here are some images to share. Enjoy.

Shelly + Bobby: Married | Virginia Wedding Photography

May was a hopping month for the Studio. It started with Mario helping gifted photographers Noah Hayes and Scott Henderson to document Shelly’s and Bobby‘s incredible wedding. The celebration was wonderful, very relaxed and had the largest bridal party Mario had ever seen (26).

All in all it was a great day. We wish Shelly and Bobby the brightest of all possible futures.

Brian Parks Session | Virginia Portrait Photography

Cool. That was the first word that came to mind when Brian exited his car at the studio. “This guy exudes coolness.” His coolness didn’t come as a surprise to me. I had reviewed his portfolio, so I knew. But there was one thing that didn’t come through in all of his pictures; Brian Parks is funny. He was cracking jokes the entire session which lightened the mood when I was having technical difficulties with the studio lights and the remote triggers. All in all the shoot, we had a great time. I got some great shots and got to hang out with a cool guy. Life is good.

Arthur Murray: Spring Freestyles | Virginia Event Photographer

I love dancing. Absolutely love it. As I mentioned in an early post, I plan on taking dance lessons. Unfortunately, Nature has seen fit to curse me with three left feet. Be that as it may, I love photographing dance events; the passion, the energy, raw sensuality. Although, each event reminds me of my natural lack of grace and poise, they allow me to live vicariously through the competitors on the floor. One such event is the Arthur Murray’s Spring Freestyles held this past March in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Many thanks to Bryony and Rassi Borneo of TimeLine Media for asking me to help photograph this multi-day event.

Sarah Blanks: Senior Session | Virginia Portrait Photographer

It started with a nicely written email. The gist of which follows:  “I saw your portfolio and like your work. Are you interested in shooting with me? I have a great location in mind. My friend lives nearby and she has volunteered her property for the shoot. The property has barn. Also, she has horses that she said we could use.” The email was signed “Sarah.”

Sarah Blanks is a senior at a nearby high school, a model and one of the nicest people I’ve met. I can’t think of a time during the shoot when she wasn’t smiling.

Her session took place in nearby Leesburg, Virginia. It was my first time shooting horses, so I was a little apprehensive. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I know that some animals can behave unpredictably. I had no need to worry, however. Being an experienced rider and handler, Sarah controlled the horses expertly. After the horse portion of the session was over, she took us to some other nearby locations to cap off the day.

I had a wonderful time photographing Sarah. Here are some of my favorites from the session. Enjoy.

This next shot is my personal favorite. I love the lighting.
